Updating the DownStream license on the server and workstation

Instructions for updating CAM350 and BluePrint licenses on the license server using the LMTOOLS program, as well as for configuring a network license on a workstation.

Updated: April 4, 2024Files: 1

DownStream licenses include all CAM350 and BluePrint software. The license file ` license.dat ` is saved by default in the directory ` C:\DownStreamTech\LicenseManager` during software installation.

1. Configurations for the New License File

Open the new license file in Notepad and edit the lines ” SERVER” and ” DAEMON” in the locations shown in the image to match the previous license.

2. Updating the new license file on the server

  1. Launch LMTOOLS and select the service name of the license you want to update.
  2. Select the Start/Stop/Reread tab and click Stop Server.
  3. Copy the current license file, C:\DownStreamTech\LicenseManager\license.dat, to a backup folder of your choice.
  4. Save the new ” license.dat” license file to the ” C:\DownStreamTech\LicenseManager” folder, which will replace the previous license file.
  5. Restart the license service from the Start/Stop/Reread tab in LMTOOLS: Start Server.
  6. Double-check that the license service has started correctly: LMTOOLS > Config Services → View Log….

3. Configuring the DownStream network license on a workstation

The license server to be used is specified in the environment variable ` ACT_INC_LICENSE_FILE`, for example, ` ACT_INC_LICENSE_FILE=7102@server_name`.

You can check this setting in the Command Prompt using the command ` set act`. For example, ` C:\>set act ` prints the line ` ACT_INC_LICENSE_FILE=7102@server_name`.
