PADS Layout Script Wizard: Layout Coordinates in Excel

The PADS Layout Script Wizard can be used to generate a new VB script that can be run directly. The wizard can be used to create various reports in different output formats.

In this example, the wizard generates a list of XY coordinates for a production layout machine. The list is exported in Excel format.

Generating a VB script for a list of coordinates

1. Run the PADS Layout Script Wizard.
2. Follow the instructions in the PDF guide to make your selections in the wizard.
3. Once the VB script has been saved and run, the VB script code window opens; you can close it.
4. In this script, the output is in Excel format, which is easy to edit if the format accepted by the typesetter is different.

Determining the Decal Coordinate Point in the Layout List

By default, the layout coordinates are based on the decal’s origin. You can change the coordinates to the decal’s calculated center point. The calculation takes into account the outermost outline and pad areas of the decal, which are used to determine the center point.

The change is made directly to the VB Script code, where the following is replaced:

• PositionX → CenterX
• PositionY → CenterY

Save the modified VB script and run it again.
